I’m excited to share the joy of piano playing with your child!

• Students must have a piano or keyboard at home and are expected to practice regularly to make progress. Once they get the hang of playing the piano, the fun really starts!

• Small group setting fosters a sense of community and a supportive team environment for learning! Students will have fun making music together as an ensemble, each at their own keyboard.

• Mrs. Tabata customizes the content for each class, providing multiple levels, and optional bonus songs. Concepts such as note reading are reviewed cyclically and reinforced through games and activities.

• Weekly assignments will be found in the Practice Space app. It has a fun leaderboard to reward practice time!

Curriculum includes the Piano Safari Repertoire Level 1, Mrs. Tabata’s Piano Technique Level 1, and additional supplementary and seasonal pieces.

In this Fall Semester, students will learn:

• Names and locations of the piano keys

• Finger numbers

• Hand position, posture & technique using Mrs. Tabata’s effective exercises for relaxed, efficient piano playing

• Ear training through listening games

• Fun songs

Foundations of reading music including:

• Rhythm

• Reading notes on the treble and bass staves around Middle C

• Musical Alphabet forwards & backwards

• Musical terms including dynamics and time signatures
